LETTER TO THE AMERICAN JEWISH COMMITTEE

Gentlemen:
Your goal: "ADVANCING DEMOCRACY, PLURALISM AND MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING"
Reference your 10/26/03 ad in The New York Times.
"Bigotry is bigotry. When an entire people or religion is assailed,
all people and all religions are threatened. At such moments,
people of good will need to be heard. History has taught us the
danger of silence."

Well, Italian-Americans ARE being attacked in a most insidious way
per NIAF-National Italian American Foundation [2004 summer issue]
about the movie SHARK TALE produced by DREAMWORKS SKG.
"The film is described as a "gangster comedy" featuring sharks as
mafia characters with Italian names that belong to the "Five
Families." Thus, millions of Italian-Americans are going to become
outraged when the full meaning of this cartoon, geared to children,
becomes known.

I am therefore, requesting that AJC get involved in this matter
since the destruction of bigotry is one of your goals. If you have
contact with Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and/or David
Geffin, please ask them to send you a copy of the movie that is to
be released on Oct. 1, 2004. You can determine for yourselves the
status of this controversy.

Respectfully,
John Messina
